Transport transition 2025: Major projects started in the Neumarkt district!
Traffic planning in the Neumarkt district is at the top of the agenda in 2025. After a detailed exchange between District Administrator Willibald Gailler and representatives of the Regensburg State Building Authority, a comprehensive work program was presented that provides for significant improvement measures in the road and cycle path network. This includes, among other things, targeted relief through local bypasses in Postbauer-Heng, Rohr and Seubersdorf. These construction measures are aimed at removing through traffic from residential areas and noticeably improving the local traffic situation. So reports Neumarkt Aktuell.
A centerpiece of these plans is the three-stage expansion of the B 299 in the Sengenthal Nord section, which is intended to optimize transport connections and also improve the B 8 through town in Postbauer-Heng. A discussion date for the Seubersdorf bypass is scheduled to take place by the end of this year to discuss the next steps.
Investments and cycle path expansion
The work program includes annual improvement measures worth around 10 million euros, which not only affect the roads, but also have the construction of cycle paths as an important focus. This involves closing gaps between Pölling and Postbauer-Heng and between Lauterhofen and St. Lampert in order to increase safety and connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians.
According to a request to the federal government, 59 percent of federal roads in Germany are not equipped with cycle paths. The need for a master plan for cycle paths is demanded by both the federal government and emphasized by the Auto Club Europa (ACE), which points out the slow progress in the expansion of cycle paths. What is particularly noticeable is that Hesse only has a 24 percent share of cycle paths, which makes initiatives to improve safety for cyclists all the more urgent. In the Main-Kinzig district, on the other hand, an exemplary approach to cycle path expansion is mentioned, but an annual cycling event had to be canceled due to the pandemic. These aspects underline the relevance of the planned measures in the Neumarkt district, which are primarily intended to strengthen mobility and improve traffic safety Kinzig News.
Collaboration for rural areas
The close cooperation between the district and the state building authority is seen as the key to success. The aim is to create a noticeable improvement in the quality of life through coordinated planning in the area of bypasses and in the construction of cycle paths. Support from the Free State of Bavaria is also praised as it makes a significant contribution to the realization of these projects. Overall, it is clear that the planned traffic improvements are not only intended for road traffic, but also represent a clear commitment to promoting cycling in the region.
These positive developments show that Neumarkt is actively working on the transport structure and people can look forward to the changes that will occur in the coming years.
