Mercedes races into the Rosenheim pharmacy – a blessing in disguise!

On Monday, October 27, 2025, there was an unfortunate incident in Rosenheim when a 59-year-old driver spun her Mercedes while reversing into parking. It happened around 10:25 a.m. in the Römer pharmacy on Ebersberger Strasse when the woman suddenly accelerated and raced into the sales room. Fortunately, the driver, pharmacists and customers were uninjured, which is probably the best thing about this.

However, the damage to the pharmacy is significant. The safety glass window front was broken, shelves were knocked over and cracks and dents appeared on the ceiling and a wall. The damage is estimated at at least 10,000 euros, and it is quite possible that this amount could increase after a detailed check OVB reported.

Shock in the pharmacy

Shortly before the accident, the pharmacy was almost full with customers who were at the scene just seconds before the incident. Luckily for everyone involved, nothing worse happened. The driver, who was visibly in shock, apologized several times and was able to rule out that alcohol was involved. The fire department quickly came to help and pulled the car out of the building, while pharmacist Markus Bauer was already making plans to reopen the Römer-Apotheke on Tuesday, October 28th.

Although a temporary reduction in offerings cannot be ruled out, it seemed important to him to resume operations as quickly as possible. After all, customers don’t want to have to wait too long for their usual medications and products.

Traffic accidents in focus

The incident in Rosenheim is part of the current discussions about road safety measures. Loud Statista There were around 2.5 million road traffic accidents in Germany in 2024. This shows that although awareness of road safety is improving, there is still a need for education, especially when human factors such as inattention or overconfidence are often the main causes of such accidents.

One of the EU's goals is “Vision Zero”, which aims for zero traffic deaths in Europe by 2050. It remains to be seen how effective the planned measures will be to raise awareness among road users and improve infrastructure.

Overall, the incident remains a lasting sign that something unexpected can happen on the road at any time. Fortunately, this time everyone involved had a lot of luck in misfortune.
