Traffic chaos in Söchtenau: Measures against dangerous intersections!

The municipality of Söchtenau is actively working to increase traffic safety on the busy state road 2095. In a current on-site meeting, the necessary measures were discussed together with the Rosenheim State Building Authority to deal with a dangerous intersection near the Kreuzstrasse commercial area. In recent years there have been repeated collisions there, which also puts a lot of strain on the fire department, as Mayor Johannes Thusbaß emphasizes. It is particularly important to him to ensure the safety of citizens at this point, where a speed limit of 70 km/h already applies. The Free State of Bavaria has also announced that it will commission a traffic report this year to comprehensively analyze traffic flows and loads, reports Radio Charivari.

As part of these efforts, State Highway 2095 will be fully closed from June 10 to 20, 2025 for construction work to complete a sidewalk and bike path. The closure affects the section between Reischach (municipality of Söchtenau) and the roundabout in Prutting. A clear diversion will be set up, which will require additional travel time, especially for road users traveling from the direction of Prutting to Bad Endorf or vice versa. Drivers are asked to allow extra time to avoid inconvenience. The diversions lead via Söchtenau and Halfing, so that traffic is directed from different directions, explained Prutting.

Collaboration for greater security

The focus is not only on the structural measures. As part of traffic safety work, extensive data collection is also used, such as that carried out by the GIDAS initiative. This goes beyond the police recording of accidents and enables a deeper insight into road safety. The holistic approach looks at the interfaces between people, medicine, vehicle technology and infrastructure. With these findings, targeted regulations and security strategies can be developed and further developed, emphasized GIDAS Munich.

Overall, the initiative to improve the traffic situation in Söchtenau is an important, ongoing concern that affects not only the community but all road users. The planned measures are intended to help increase safety on the roads and significantly reduce the number of traffic accidents at critical points.
