Who doesn't know her, the dark figure who has been haunting the streets of Gotham City for generations? Batman, who fights under the pseudonym Bruce Wayne, has established himself as a comic book icon over the years. Now the new animated series “Bat-Fam” brings a breath of fresh air into the universe of the world’s most famous mask wearer, on Prime Video of all places! How Gizmodo reports, the series not only follows the action-packed protagonist, but also highlights the funny and chaotic aspects of the Wayne family.

The story deals with Damien Wayne, better known as Little Batman, and his father Bruce Wayne, and follows the plot of “Merry Little Batman”. Mike Roth takes on the role of executive producer and showrunner, taking audiences deeper into the soulful relationship between father and son. Originally intended as a film, the team decided to further expand the world of Gotham and show the dynamics within the Wayne family.

New characters and old acquaintances

The series also brings a breath of fresh air with new characters. Claire, also known as Volcana and rejuvenated by the mysterious Lazarus Pit, is voiced by Haley Tju. She acts as an older sister to Damien, which helps him better understand the concept of family. Another new addition is Alicia, voiced by London Hughes, who, as Bruce Wayne's childhood friend, further enriches the relationship between him and Damien.

The story is brought to life by a variety of well-known villains, including Solomon Grundy, Killer Croc, Live Wire and the Mad Hatter. In addition to these characters, there is a group of reformed villains who call themselves E-VIL and who not only tried to integrate into society but also provide some humorous moments. At least characters like King Tut and Killer Moth bring some humor into the dark Gotham world.

A touch of nostalgia

A special treat in the series is a little Easter egg: the character Carmine Infantino, who appears in a toy store and is voiced by Carmine herself. Such details not only provide nostalgic moments, but also underline the attention to detail that the producers have put into this project.

The story of Batman began in 1939 when he... Detective Comics #27 debuted. From a vengeful vigilante, the character evolved into a thoughtful superhero with a strict moral code. The fascination with Batman has never waned over the decades; his opponents, such as the Joker or Catwoman, and his distinctive gadgets, from the Batmobile to the famous Utility Belt, captivate generations.

The animated “Bat Fam” series is not only a continuation of the Batman story, but also opens up new perspectives on the relationships within the Wayne family and shows that even superheroes have their challenges in everyday life.
