Revolutionary sewage system: More space and time for Erfurt's new buildings!
A lot is happening in the area of housing construction in Erfurt. Around 600 new owner-occupied, rental and social apartments are being built in the Europakarree housing project. An innovative drainage system is used, particularly in construction section H. As Haustechnikdialog reports, the Geberit Silent-Pro SuperTube was installed here on seven floors.
The system has proven to be a real benefit for planners and builders. Not only does it offer optimized flow control, but also significant space savings as well as reduced installation time and material requirements. Geberit Silent-Pro SuperTube will also be used in other construction phases of the residential area, which clearly underlines the efforts to increase efficiency in residential building planning.
Innovations in drainage systems
One of the biggest challenges when planning such multi-storey buildings is the horizontal distortion of downpipes, which must be subject to a gradient in accordance with DIN 1986-100. However, the new system allows horizontal installation of up to 6 meters without a gradient, which brings enormous advantages in practice. For downpipes longer than 10 meters, additional bypass pipes are required; Here too, Geberit has a solution ready with Silent-Pro SuperTube, which makes the previously required connection zones obsolete, as continuous air columns are now created in the pipes.
The advantages are not just of a technical nature: by using Geberit Silent-Pro SuperTube, builders also benefit from significant savings in raw materials. With just one downpipe running through the floor ceiling, the dimensions of all wastewater pipes could be reduced from DN 100 to DN 90, which resulted in, for example, 32 fewer core drillings and fire protection sleeves being required. This leads to a total space saving of 38 square meters for 76 apartments, meaning that each individual room can be used significantly more efficiently.
Efficient planning and collaboration
The successful implementation of the project is the result of close collaboration between the planner Claudia Sanno, the project manager Marcel Roth and the Geberit sales consultant Fabian Ritter. He not only provided the builders with advice, but also supported the installation and explained the various fire protection solutions that had to be considered during implementation. The challenges were great, especially compliance with height requirements in certain rooms - for example, a room height of 2.90 meters had to be maintained in a meeting room.
Another aspect that often falls into the background in large construction projects is ecological assessment. As PBR shows, life cycle analysis plays a crucial role in the sustainable planning of new construction projects. Not only emissions during the construction phase are taken into account, but also the entire lifespan of the property, including dismantling and disposal. This shows how important an environmentally conscious approach has become in the construction industry in order to minimize CO2 emissions and conserve resources.
The Geberit Silent-Pro SuperTube system is already planned for further construction phases of the Europakarree. This shows a clear trend towards innovative solutions that are both ecologically and economically advantageous. Erfurt shows how modern living can master its challenges with clever technologies.
