Children's Cancer Aid: Over 10,000 euros collected at the Old Town Festival!
The old town festival recently took place in the picturesque Pfarrkirchen, which had a special highlight: the raffle from the Rottal-Inn Children's Cancer Aid. This year a great amount of over 10,180 euros was raised, a real sign of solidarity in the community. Despite the unpleasant weather conditions on Friday and Saturday, the spirit was unbroken and all tickets were successfully sold on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. This is reported by pnp.de.
The manor house in the racetrack was the center of another tradition until late in the evening: the children's cancer aid dinner, which was opened by Mayor Wolfgang Beißmann. Beißmann, who inherited this tradition from his predecessor Georg Riedl, was proud of the work the club has done and thanked the numerous helpers who work tirelessly throughout the year. The active support was acknowledged with a warm “God bless you”.
Tradition and community
A total of 43 dedicated helpers took part in the social evening, and even though many talented cake bakers could not be invited personally, they were not forgotten by chairman Josef Hofbauer in his words of thanks. “Without you, none of this would be possible,” emphasized Hofbauer, who also emphasized the importance of community.
The proceeds from the raffle benefit sick children and their families in the Rottal-Inn and Passau districts. There is not a moment of boredom; The preparations for the raffle are extensive and required packing and preparing all the prizes, which required many helping hands. Great praise goes not only to the ticket sellers, but also to the young people who actively helped during the festival - some of them even over several days!
Food and socializing
Another pleasant aspect of the event was the physical well-being of the helpers. Grill masters Bernhard Wimmer and Christian Hackl provided delicious food, while many of the helpers brought freshly prepared salads and cakes themselves. The evening was characterized not only by lively conversations, but also by culinary delights, which further strengthened the feeling of community.
The Children's Cancer Aid has been represented at the Old Town Festival for 20 years, apart from the two-year interruption due to the pandemic. This shows how important the organization is for the region and how much the community supports the efforts. Thanks go not only to the helpers and donors of the prizes, but also to the city of Pfarrkirchen and everyone who contributed to supporting this good cause by purchasing tickets, as the children's cancer charity announces on its website kinderkrebshilfe-rottal-inn.de.
The Rottal-Inn children's cancer charity is growing and thriving, and the coming effort for the sick children and their families will certainly not decrease. Together we are strong – that became clear once again at the Old Town Festival!
