Philipp Konrad remains SPD chairman: Let’s go to the local elections in 2026!

At yesterday's annual general meeting of the SPD local association Postmünster in the Gasthof Linke in Neuhofen, Philipp Konrad was re-confirmed in his office as chairman. With a unanimous vote, the members praised Konrad's commitment to the party and the community. He is supported by Alois Rothmeier Sr., who was elected as deputy chairman and future secretary. The new treasurer is Siegfried Konrad, while Egon Feßler takes on the role of organizational manager. Konrad and Rothmeier Sr. represented at the district meeting. the local association, while Hans Altmannsperger and Alois Rothmeier Jr. act as auditors. Recently, Josef Schleindlsperger was no longer available for health reasons and was bid farewell by those present with a small gift. This feedback shows the association's appreciation for its many years of work.

But what is the focus of the SPD in Postmünster? Philipp Konrad has already made plans: He would like to run for the 2026 local elections with his own SPD list. This was emphasized during the meeting and made it clear that the party wants to actively intervene in the political landscape. In particular, Alfred Feldmeier, chairman of the SPD district council group, took the floor and pointed out that the current situation at the Theater an der Rott and the associated costs of increasing the district levy were not easy to convey. Such insights are important for appropriately shaping the political conversation in the region.

Clear course for the local elections in 2026

A similar enthusiasm can also be seen at the SPD local association Schwandorf, which held a general meeting on July 23, 2025. Important decisions were made here, including the election of delegates for the upcoming district and district council elections. Andreas Weinmann, a promising mayoral candidate, receives full support from the local association, which aims to present a strong team consisting of experienced members and fresh ideas. Alois Männl stands out because he is not only running for the city council, but is also actively involved in the community, for example in the Naabwerkstätten bicycle repair shop.

The members also discussed central topics such as the future of the Dachlhofen/Kreuzberg school location and the fire protection strategies of the fire department in Schwandorf. The exact process and the elected delegates cannot be emphasized enough, as these people are crucial in shaping the future political agenda. The elected delegates for the district council and district council elections are Christina Swoboda, Alois Männl, Franz Schindler, Manfred Schüller and Matthias Kuhn.

Preparations and support

In order to ensure the quality of political work, the SPD Hessen-Nord provides important materials that are important not only for direct mayoral elections, but also for the local elections in 2026. So it is no surprise that the party school and the Hesse state office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation are active here. Although access is password protected, this ensures targeted preparation for the upcoming elections and supports the chairmen of the various divisions so that everyone can go into the election campaign well armed.

The political course is already being set and anticipation for the local elections is increasing. It remains to be seen how the SPD will present itself in Postmünster and Schwandorf and which issues will ultimately convince voters.
