A boil order in the Passau public utilities supply area is currently causing confusion and concern among residents. In addition, the BBK's NINA app issued a misleading warning that caused unrest among a large group of residents by denouncing 55 other municipalities and four districts as allegedly affected. However, according to PNP, the authorities confirm that only the explicitly mentioned places suffer from the boil order.

Tap water should only be used for consumption after it has boiled, and the use of a kettle is also recommended. Boiled water can also be used for preparing food, brushing teeth or cleaning open wounds, but it is safe for flushing toilets and other purposes. Social pressure is the order of the day: Anyone who thinks that lukewarm water is ultimately something that can be used should think twice before experimenting with the water, because the risks are simply too high.

The boil order includes the following specific locations:

• Stadt Passau: Gesamtgebiet ist betroffen.
• Tiefenbach: Alle Ortsteile außer besonderen Ausnahmen wie Gewerbestr. 11, Franz-Silbereisenstraße oder Ober- und Unterkaining.
• Salzweg: Auch hier viele ausgenommene Stellen, wie Kronawitten und Jägeröd.
• Windorf: Betroffen sind die Ortschaften Gaißhofen, Klinghof und Kißling.
• Ortenburg: Kinder- und Jugendtagungsstätte Rammelsbach und angrenzende Nummern bis 6 sind betroffen.
• Vilshofen: Stadtgebiet betroffen, jedoch sind die Ortsteile Pleinting, Aunkirchen sowie Albersdorf von der Abkochanordnung ausgenommen.
