Drunk driver rams police cars in Schwabach – shocking night!
On Halloween night on November 2nd, 2025, a drunk driver caused a stir in Schwabach. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Reichswaisenhausstrasse at the intersection with Wittelsbacher Strasse when the police tried to prevent the driver from driving. Again Danube Courier Reportedly, the officers parked their company vehicle diagonally in front of the 45-year-old's car with the blue lights on. But he rammed the police vehicle on the side and tried to escape towards the southern ring road.
However, the driver's escape ended abruptly when a second police patrol nearby, in front of the vocational school, was also involved and came into contact with the fleeing car. Eventually the vehicle sped onto the sidewalk and came to rest on a low railing. In order to free the driver, who did not respond to being spoken to, the police had to break the window. During the arrest, the man resisted and turned out to be heavily intoxicated - a breath alcohol test showed a level of over two per thousand.
Facts and injuries
After the incident, two of the four police officers deployed suffered minor hand injuries. The driver, who was also slightly injured, had to be transported to a hospital in Nuremberg. There a doctor took a blood sample from him, which was carried out on the orders of the public prosecutor. His driver's license was also confiscated. The total damage caused by the incident is estimated at around 30,000 euros.
But drinking alcohol wasn't just a problem in Schwabach this weekend. In Abensberg, a 19-year-old driver caused similar trouble shortly before midnight. As the mittelbayerische.de reported that the young man was noticed by his “conspicuous driving style” on Straubinger Strasse. During a check, the police immediately noticed the distinct smell of alcohol and carried out a breath alcohol test, which was positive.
Resistance to the police
The situation escalated when the driver announced during the drive to the hospital that he wanted to defend himself against the upcoming blood sample. For this reason, another patrol crew was called in to assist. In the hospital, the 19-year-old insulted the police officers several times and put up considerable resistance, so that the blood sample could only be carried out with immediate force. He was finally released after medical procedures were completed.
These two incidents are just the tip of the iceberg in the discussion about drunk driving and its impact on public safety. While the police continue to crack down on such incidents, it is hoped that such legal measures will help raise general awareness.
