A true riot of color recently emerged in Schwabach when young people created impressive graffiti in collaboration with the city and the partnership committee. Those present included Mayor Peter Reiß, Finnja Lenzer and Robert van Loosen, who were all part of this creative process. Julia Palacios Montiel from youth work was also there, along with Lilly Schmidt, Lisa Metscher from Gewobau and Carlos Lorente. Creative development in the community

Designing public spaces has been booming recently. In Aulendorf, for example, a similar graffiti project was implemented in the train station underpass under the direction of the artist Daniel Schuster, better known as “Daschu”. This project was realized in collaboration with open child and youth work. How weekly paper reports, youth social workers Franziska Wiest and Clementina Esposito enthusiastically took up the city administration's suggestion.

In workshops on September 23rd and 24th, the young people taking part had the chance to present their ideas for wall design. The inspiration came from a desire to greet travelers with a welcoming culture and positive messages. On the two days of the workshop, the young people not only collected ideas, they also learned the basics of spray technology. The first day ended with the first spraying attempts, and on the second day we continued after a delicious lunch break with pizza.

Art works – not only beautiful, but also unifying

At the end of the project, the young people who took part were extremely proud of their work. The positive feedback from travelers shows that such public art activities can create not only beauty but also a deeper connection within the community.
