New festival host for the Schwandorf folk festival: tradition meets a breath of fresh air!

Summer is just around the corner and with it the most important folk festival in Schwandorf, which is being celebrated for the 85th time this year. From May 30th to June 1st and again from June 5th to 9th, 2025, the festival site at Schwanenplatz will bloom and attract tens of thousands of visitors. The Schwandorfer Volksfest, which is a true institution in the region, is very popular not only with locals but also with numerous foreign guests.

Preparations for this big celebration are already in full swing. As the Central Bavarian reports, B. Schuhmann Festzeltbetriebe GmbH from Kasendorf will take over the management of the festival for the years 2026 and 2027. This was recently announced in a press release from the city of Schwandorf. The decision was made between four applicants, with the Schuhmann Group being chosen due to its extensive experience at large folk festivals in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

A new festival host and tradition preservation

Managing director Nadine Schuhmann is pleased with the city's trust and plans to lead the festival into the future. Mayor Andreas Feller highlights the long tradition of the festival and emphasizes Schuhmann's experience in the event sector. The amusement park, which has been managed by the Uebel & Sachs showman family since 2017, also remains part of the folk festival.

The 85th edition of the folk festival will begin with an anniversary promotion on the opening day, where a pint of beer will cost just 8.50 euros from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. On the opening evening, a spectacular laser show provides the right ambience. The official start of the festival will take place on the first Saturday with a large parade in which local clubs and brass bands will delight visitors with their performances.
