A serious traffic accident on the SAD 15 district road near Nittenau caused a stir on Saturday morning. The accident occurred when the Mercedes driver tried to overtake the BMW while it was turning left.
After the impact, the Mercedes left the road and landed in an adjacent field, while the BMW steered onto a dirt road. Fortunately, the BMW driver was uninjured, but the Mercedes driver suffered shock and had to be transported to hospital. The total damage to both vehicles amounts to around 15,000 euros. The Mercedes was no longer drivable and had to be towed away, while the BMW, although damaged, was still drivable.
More accidents in Nittenau
This was not the only incident in the region in recent months. On July 20, 2025, another serious traffic accident occurred on state highway 2145 in Nittenau. According to the report of Upper Palatinate Echo An 18-year-old Audi driver and a 33-year-old Mercedes driver collided head-on while turning. The Audi wanted to turn left and missed the oncoming vehicle, which resulted in a violent collision.
Five people were injured in this accident, including the young Audi driver and one of his passengers, both of whom had to be taken to hospital. The passenger in the Audi was uninjured, but both passengers in the Mercedes were also injured. The damage was estimated at around 30,000 euros and both vehicles had to be towed. Around 20 members of the Nittenau Volunteer Fire Department as well as first responders and the rescue service were deployed at the scene. An oil spill had been secured by the road maintenance department.
