School start 2025: All new bus connections for students in Regensburg!

It is an important day for all school children in the Regensburg district: Today, September 16, 2025, the new school year begins with numerous changes in regional bus transport. Over 8,000 students are transported every day by the district's local transport company GFN and its partner companies Wenzenbach reported.

The change in school types, specifically the change from G8 to G9, also brings with it a higher number of high school students, as there are no plans for school leavers this year. The transport companies had to adapt to these new challenges, for which Josef Weigl, Managing Director of GFN, paid the necessary attention to transport planning.

Timetable changes and new lines

The necessary adjustments to the timetables in the Regensburg transport association have created some interesting new options for the students. For example, on the popular line 5 from Regensburg main station, a large bus will be used to Sulzbach Dorfplatz at 1:00 p.m. Line 7 will also receive a new additional amplifier bus, which runs from Ziegetsdorf to the main train station at 7:12 a.m. on school days.

A highlight of line 8 are the short trips that run every 20 minutes between Klenzebrücke and the main train station from 7:03 a.m. to 8:03 a.m. There is also improved evening service with a new trip at 7:45 p.m. from Grünthal to Wolframstrasse so that students can go home after a long day at school.

Other important adjustments

Bus routes 12 and 13 ensure that all students arrive at the schools on time. The bus from Rohrdorf to the Lappersdorfer Gymnasium starts at 7:02 a.m., while an additional trip at 3:30 p.m. takes you from Hainsacker Turl to the Hainsacker School. Lines 12 and 13 are available for middle school students and they can change to line 15, which has now adjusted its travel times on Saturdays.

Also noteworthy is line 33, where two large buses leave Neutraubling Realschule at 1:07 p.m. On line 41, the trip at 7:34 a.m. from Teublitz Nord now also includes the Burglengenfeld high school at 7:49 a.m. in the program. In addition, some stops, such as those in Burglengenfeld Naabtalpark, are no longer served.

  • Linie 106: Haltestelle Erlbach Herrenholz ist neu im Fahrplan.
  • Linie 115: Haltestelle Roith bei Wenzenbach neu im Fahrplan.
  • Linie 116: Der Bus fährt samstags eine Stunde früher.
  • Linie 141: Zusätzlicher Bus um 07:35 Uhr von Maxhütte-Haidhof Bhf zum Burglengenfeld Gymnasium.
  • Linie 142: Weitere Anpassungen bei den Fahrzeiten ab Lappersdorf Gymnasium.

The adjustments to lines 23, 24, 26, 28, 36/37, 66, 102, 104, 107, 111 and 112 represent minor changes. Some stop names have also been revised in several areas.

All in all, GFN and the Regensburger Verkehrsverbund wish you all students a successful start to the new school year and hope that the new regulations are well received. To ensure that the new school year runs as smoothly as possible for both students and parents, these changes are a crucial step in the right direction.
