FC Schweinfurt 05 and DJK Würzburg: New impulses for girls' football!
In recent weeks, the promotion of girls' football in Germany has received new impetus. A new beginning is particularly characterized by the cooperation between FC Schweinfurt 05 and the DJK Würzburg. With this partnership, the two clubs want to actively promote young talent in the female sector and get them excited about club football. The focus is on fun and the feeling of community.
The first joint event took place in the stadium on Wredestrasse at the beginning of July. There was a screening training for the DJK, which led directly to an exciting training camp over two days. Not only did young girls' teams from both clubs get active here, but the U11 team was also able to show off their skills. Almost 50 young female footballers received the DFB football badge for their achievements. Another highlight was the visit of the men's players Joshua Endres, Nick Doctorczyk and Luca Trsilic, who shared their football experiences with the girls.
Sustainable development and initial successes
On the second day of the training camp, further training sessions and a mini-tournament were on the agenda. A workshop on injury prevention was also offered to give the young players valuable tips for a safe and healthy sporting career. Enough time to exchange ideas and get to know each other ensured that the girls were able to grow together not only athletically but also socially. This form of joint training and learning is a step in the right direction to further optimize the structures in girls' football.
The collaboration between FC Schweinfurt 05 and DJK Würzburg exemplifies the broader initiative supported by the DFB strategy “Women in Football FF27”. This strategy was adopted in December 2021 and pursues the ambitious goals of increasing the number of active players, coaches and referees by 25 percent. In addition, the media reach of women's football should double across all platforms. The focus is on strengthening structures, promoting talent and appealing offers for women and girls.
Talent days for future stars
As part of the efforts to further promote young talent, the Middle Rhine Football Association for 2025 talent days for juniors. In particular, players born in 2014 (currently U11/E1) are invited to qualify for the DFB bases. These are scheduled to take place in the first half of 2025 and offer special screening training for both new talents and goalkeepers. Parents and teachers are also involved so that the best talent can be optimally registered.
These are important steps to introduce more female players to top European football and at the same time promote broad interest in girls' football. The passion for sport and the community continue to be in the foreground and promote positive development within the club and beyond.
