The ice hockey spectacle continues! The Geretsrieder River Rats suffered a clear defeat in their first meeting against league leaders Schweinfurt. Last weekend they suffered a bitter defeat away from home with a score of 2:7. But the team doesn't let their heads down and looks forward to the next game with optimism. On Friday they will meet the Mighty Dogs, who are currently at the top of the league, at their home Icedome.
Schweinfurt can rely on the best offense in the league this season, which has already scored an impressive 136 goals in 22 games. In order to improve their own balance sheet, Geretsried will need concentration and defensive stability on Friday, as ESC coach Hans Tauber emphasizes. He definitely gives his team chances, even if they are underdogs.
Mighty Dogs and their balance sheet
The Mighty Dogs have been successful recently and won both against Dingolfing 4:3 after extra time and the match against Buchloe 4:2. With an average of 1,100 spectators at home games, the atmosphere in the Icedome is always charged. The team from Schweinfurt is definitely not underestimated, especially since the first leg was already clearly won 7-2.
There are some interesting players in the Geretsried team. Among them are the two Czechs Tomas Cermak and Josef Dana as well as the Latvian defenders Kristers Donins and Dzerods Alksnis. Cermak particularly stands out as he is the league's top scorer with 27 goals and 33 assists. However, several players will not have a full roster in the team this week; Maximilian Hüsken, Luis Huber and Florian Strobl are injured and their availability remains questionable, while Dominic Fuchs and Christoph Frankenberg are also at risk.
Personnel changes
