Bavaria is celebrating: 19,000 students are enthusiastic about the Europe? Of course!” competition.

This year, almost 19,000 children and young people took part in the European School Competition in Bavaria, whose motto was "Europe? Surely!" is. Today the big awards ceremony takes place in Munich, where the best works will be honored. A colorful potpourri of creative entries, including paintings, sculptures and short films, makes this competition an experience for the participating students from all over Germany and German countries abroad.

How Radio Oberland reported, six schools from the Oberland region were honored. Among the award winners are the Dietramszell elementary school as well as the middle school and the state secondary school in Geretsried, the Ammersee-Gymnasium in Dießen and the two high schools Christoph-Probst and Otto-von-Taube in Gilching and Gauting respectively. These schools clearly show that there is real potential here when it comes to creative minds.

The competition in detail

The European student competition is aimed at students from all types of schools in Germany as well as German schools abroad. Participation takes place either as an individual or in groups of up to four members. Talents of all ages can contribute their ideas - younger students can also try tasks for higher classes, while older students should avoid those for lower classes. Registration for the competition begins in September every year, and to get started on time, teachers should initiate the registration of participants. There are no limits to creativity; What is important, however, is the clear reference to Europe, which is crucial for the evaluation of the work, as is also the case on the website European competition is explained.

But participation is not only a unique opportunity, but also an opportunity to promote data literacy. The European statistics competition, organized by the Federal Statistical Office, will also start in the 2024/25 school year. Here, students from grades 8 to 13 can demonstrate their skills in teams. With a variety of tasks and challenges, this competition ensures exciting learning. In Germany, lively participation is expected here, which already brought together more than 780 students and 135 schools last year, which impressively demonstrates the great enthusiasm for the topics and the exchange about Europe.

What's the point of all this?

Education and creativity are the focus of these competitions - they are not only there to promote talent, but also to raise awareness of European issues. Creative engagement with Europe and current social issues is more important than ever. The submissions that made it to the award ceremony are a reflection of the diversity of our young generation, which is dealing with the issues of tomorrow.

All of this shows that the future of Europe will be shaped by the creative and inquisitive minds of our children and young people. A good reason to support and accompany them on their journey.
