Gourmet weeks in Sankt Englmar: discover local delicacies!
The Sankt Englmar holiday region is all about enjoyment! From September 26th to October 12th, 2025, the Gourmet Weeks under the motto “Enjoy Home” invite all gourmets and nature lovers to let themselves be seduced by the culinary delicacies of the region. Autumn not only attracts hikers and mountain cyclists to the picturesque surroundings, but also everyone who appreciates good food. Fresh dishes made from regional ingredients are served in inns, restaurants, huts and cafés, which impressively demonstrate the quality and diversity of the local cuisine.
The regional specialties include fresh trout from the trout farm in Grünmühl, the tender meat from the Englmarer Weidekalbin and aromatic herbs from Hirschenstein natur in Perasdorf. Cheese is also made in the various companies, especially by the “Kreut3 Käsehandwerk” in Konzell. Nothing speaks more of the traditional Bavarian way of life than using the best local ingredients. Particularly noteworthy are the fine brandies from Wilhelm Marx from Neukirchen and Greindl's Woidrausch-Bergdorf distillery, which are not only served as a digestif, but also demonstrate the art of distillation in the district. Greindl's Woidrausch-Bergdorf distillery was recognized as one of the 44 Bavarian gourmet places in 2024 and is an example of the high-quality gourmet culture that is cultivated in the region.
Regional and sustainable
The participating companies always emphasize the principles of species-appropriate animal husbandry, site-appropriate cultivation, freshness and short transport routes. Quality and sustainability are the top priority here, which makes the enjoyment weeks an experience for all the senses. Top establishments such as Micha Ammon's Michelin-starred restaurant Jakob's in Haigrub and Lucki Maurer's STOI, known for their Wagyu cattle breeding, set standards in fine dining and show that regional can also be exceptionally good.
The Gourmet Weeks are taking place for the seventh time and are organized around Thanksgiving, which further reinforces the focus on fresh, local delicacies. In addition to the delicious food, visitors can also expect a number of accompanying events. The start will take place with the Englmarer Kirta and Almkirta at the Prellerhaus on September 22nd. On September 29th, the traditional Apple Day of the Englmar Fruit and Horticultural Association is celebrated in the spa gardens - a festival for the whole family with homemade cakes, drinks and freshly squeezed apple juice. A farm hike to the origin of the regional products is also offered.
Culinary discovery for everyone
Another highlight is the Englmar hut hike, where a delicious 4-course menu can be enjoyed in various inns around the Pröller. The offer is complemented by a tour of the Woidrausch Bergdorf distillery Greindl, where you can experience first hand how regional specialties are made. The crowning conclusion will be a gourmet event on Sunday, October 13th, in the spa park, where the diversity and quality of Bavarian products will once again be in the foreground.
Overall, the gourmet weeks offer a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the region and its high-quality offerings. The combination of tradition, enjoyment and a breathtaking landscape makes Sankt Englmar a true paradise for gourmets. The region shows that warm hospitality and high-quality, regional cuisine go hand in hand - a full-bodied experience that should not be missed. Autumn becomes a festival of taste and regional diversity that should not be missed.
