Traffic turnaround in Bogen: decision for a safe route to school is approaching!

Something is happening in the world of municipal planning! On November 8, 2025, the ÖDP/PU district council group discussed the planned cycle and pedestrian crossing on the SR 17 near Furth/Oberalteich in more detail at a meeting. The aim of this measure is to ensure a safe route to school to the future primary school center in Bogen. The administration has already confirmed that the transition will be considered and planned at an early stage. In this way, the students should get to school without any worries.

An interesting detail: During the discussion, the group brought up the fact that some trees under protection could lose their status. This has brought the lower nature conservation authority into action, which is currently checking all natural monuments for their protection status. However, new additions to natural monuments are not on the agenda. Michael Hirtreiter questioned the connection between the plans and the state government's decision to reduce bureaucracy, a topic that further fueled the meeting.

Education and sustainability in focus

Another hot topic was the district's planned participation in MobilMint, a program that supports children in the STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). The city of Straubing has submitted an application in this context, and the youth facilities in the district are already using the format intensively. Anita Bogner from the parliamentary group clearly spoke out in favor of supporting this project, which meets a great need.

There is also exciting news in the area of sustainability. Josef Gold informed that employees can now charge electric cars free of charge in their parking space. The electricity for these charging stations comes from our own photovoltaic system. This is intended to create an incentive for e-mobility and shows that the district is actively working on its climate goals. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the climate manager's short period of service has not yet enabled any profound improvements in district policy. We continue to work on concrete measures to save CO₂.

Public transport in the district

A central topic of the meeting was also the joint study of local public transport. The district is faced with the decision to join a transport association by December 31, 2025. There are two options: expanding the existing RVV or establishing a new one with Donau-Wald. One advantage of membership is government funding promises of up to 90%, which could financially support integration into a transport association. Dr. Röder expressed his optimism that integration into an existing system would be easier than setting up a new one.

In view of these diverse plans and initiatives, it is clear that a lot is happening in the district - whether in the education sector or in the development of sustainable transport structures. The discussions and decisions made here have the potential to significantly improve both the quality of life of citizens and the ecological future of the district.
