Hofbräu Traunstein: A look into history

In addition to having a turbulent history with several fires ravaging the city, the brewery has also made remarkable progress. Among other things, it was the first brewery in the world to offer wheat beer on tap. These achievements led Hofbräu Traunstein to a strong second place in the preliminary round of the current beer battle, where they knocked Wieninger out of the race.

Over the years, the brewery has received numerous awards and is now one of the valued representatives of Bavarian brewing art. With a comprehensive selection of beers and a strong brand identity, it is also known beyond the borders of Bavaria. Loud Cultural Heritage of Bavaria The brewery culture in Bavaria has always shown great diversity, and Hofbräu Traunstein is the best example of this.

The encounter with the Rott brewery

On the other side of the spectrum is this Brauhaus Rott, which was only recently founded but is already bringing a breath of fresh air into the scene. After 50 years of abstinence, Rott am Inn's own beer is returning. The founders, including Tom Altinger, Sebastian Dietz and Anton Ernstorfer, take on the brewing tradition that goes back to 1650. The young team has already thrilled the region with their first beer “Kaiser Hell” and confidently prevailed in the round of 16, securing fourth place in the preliminary round.

While some rely on centuries-old traditions, others show how you can win the hearts of beer lovers with innovative approaches and fresh thinking. This exciting clash between tradition and modernity could hardly be more fitting for Bavaria's rich beer culture, which goes far beyond the box.

The Bavarian beer landscape is truly diverse, with around 630 breweries, many of which, like Hofbräu Traunstein, exist and are thriving, while others, like Brauhaus Rott, are new and passionate. Beer consumption in Germany remains high, and Bavarian breweries are helping to keep the culture alive, like Cultural Heritage of Bavaria highlights.

If you would like to cast your own vote right away, you shouldn't hesitate and take the chance to experience what the beer battle has to offer up close. This much can be said: no beer mug stays dry!
