What a reason to celebrate! The TV Obing achieved a historic success at the second competition of the Bavarian Gymnastics League in Buttenwiesen last weekend. The gymnasts wrote club history with two promotions to the next higher league. In the first competition of the weekend, the first team secured promotion to the top league with a convincing victory on the day, for the first time ever for the club.
The team, around the talented athletes Vroni Grill, Eva-Maria Niedermeier, Julia Meilinger and Anna Lamprecht, under the leadership of coach Angie Niedermeier, presented themselves well prepared despite nervousness and injury problems. The competition, which consisted of the vault, uneven bars, beam and floor disciplines, was accompanied by tension. Vroni Grill prevailed in the performance class with top scores on beam and floor. Eva-Maria Niedermeier also showed a strong performance on the uneven bars, where she achieved top marks despite her injury.
A complete success for the teams
The Obingen gymnasts clearly prevailed against the competition in the competition and won by over five points ahead of the teams TSV Lindenberg and TSV Lohr. The following day two more Obingen teams competed in the Regional League 4. Here too, the gymnasts proved their class: The third team, consisting of Lena Wimmer, Hanna Meilinger, Lara Schmid and Romy Lamprecht, celebrated promotion to the State League 3. Wimmer achieved the highest score on the beam, while Meilinger achieved the best score on the uneven bars.
Obing II, consisting of Elisa Cordes, Marie Baumgartner, Josefine Lamprecht and Steffi Schneiderbauer, also showed team spirit. Even though Cordes had an unfortunate fall on the beam during gymnastics, the team was able to stay focused and secured fourth place. Coach Anna Radlbrunner supported the team for the first time and was proud of the high achievements of her protégés, including Baumgartner's highest score on the uneven bars.
