Traditional costume summer 2025: Brannenburg welcomes thousands of festival visitors!
What an exciting event we have ahead of us! The 2025 traditional costume summer in the Chiemsee Alpine region starts in a few days and promises to be a festival for young and old. This summer full of traditional costumes has been exciting visitors since 2017, and this year the whole thing will be really celebrated with numerous events. The celebrations will kick off on Wednesday, July 9th in Brannenburg with a traditional beer tapping. This is the first highlight of a series of festive activities that will last until early August.
There are three celebrations in total: On Sunday, July 13th, the Gautrachtenfest takes place in Brannenburg, followed by events in Traunstein on July 20th and in Feldwies on July 27th. The events are not only a highlight for the traditional costumers, but also a magnet for visitors from near and far. Around 30,000 traditional costumers and visitors are expected, who are looking forward to a variety of customs and Bavarian cosiness ovb-online.de reported.
The extensive festival program
Brannenburg is the first host and is offering an exciting program from July 9th to 14th. The highlight is the big parade on July 13th, which begins at 10 a.m. with a church service, followed by a parade at 2 p.m. On July 14th, visitors can fortify themselves with a kettle meat dinner. In the days in between, numerous other events such as a brass music evening and a Gauheimat evening are offered.
Traunstein will be the venue for the 135th Gautrachtenfest on July 20th. The festival week includes a beer and wine festival, numerous exciting competitions and a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger. Nothing will be missing in Feldwies during the festival week. Among other things, a “Day of Clubs and Companies” is celebrated here, as well as the popular Gaudirndldrahn, where participants can show how good they are in dirndls.
Tradition meets conviviality
The Gautrachten festivals not only offer musical entertainment, but also traditional competitions such as Preisplattln, Dirndldrahn and Goaßlschnalzen. The latter is particularly worth seeing: the traditional costumers step onto the tables and show impressive tricks with long whips. Festival visitors are treated to culinary delights with Bavarian specialties such as crispy grilled chicken, pork knuckles and pork sausages with sauerkraut - and of course everything is accompanied by a freshly tapped beer chiemsee-pur.de reported.
The traditional costume summer activities are supported by the districts of Rosenheim and Traunstein in order to promote customs and tourism in the region. This valuable collaboration has also led to new, fruitful connections between the host associations, such as the D’Kaltentalern from Pang, the Altötting folk costume association and the D’Staffestoana from Bernau.
With such a diverse program and the promise of Bavarian tradition and hospitality, we are looking forward to an unforgettable summer of traditional costumes.
