Michael Marksteiner: The Free Voters’ new hope for 2026!

Things are getting exciting in Weilheim: The Free Voters District Association nominated Michael Marksteiner (42) as a district administrator candidate for the 2026 local elections at a well-attended general meeting in the “Gögerl” restaurant. Marksteiner goes into the election campaign with unanimous approval of “100 percent”. The meeting was a complete success and the confidence in him could not be greater. Susann Enders, member of the state parliament and district chairwoman of the Free Voters, describes Marksteiner as down-to-earth and close to the people - qualities that are very popular in the current political landscape.

Marksteiner is no stranger to the region; He already has experience from the district council and is deputy district administrator. In the 2021 federal election, he was also successful as a FW direct candidate in constituency 225 Weilheim, even though he received 6.2 percent of the first votes at the time. In his introductory speech, he emphasized that the focus must be on mandatory tasks and that every cent of expenditure should be carefully examined.

Important dates and political goals

The official assembly meeting for the district election will take place on November 4th in the same restaurant. Marksteiner will use this opportunity to present his program and appeals to members to support him in the election. A strong wish of his is to involve citizens in the decision-making process and to be there for people's concerns not only during the election campaign but also afterwards.

The local elections in Bavaria are planned for March 8, 2026 and are held every six years. In these elections, citizens have the opportunity to elect members of municipal and city councils as well as district councils who are responsible for wide-ranging issues such as education, transport and urban planning. The right to vote in these elections applies to all German citizens aged 18 and over who have lived in Bavaria for at least two months. Voter turnout is crucial to ensuring that the population's interests are adequately represented, something Marksteiner certainly has in mind.

Marksteiner's political priorities

Marksteiner will also run for the federal election on February 23, 2025; He will present his ideas on stable federal policy, better financial resources for municipalities and reform of Bavarian hospital planning. His goal is to improve the location conditions for companies in Germany and to reduce bureaucratic hurdles. In addition, he is calling for tax-free 2,000 euros for employees and pensioners at the end of the month - an issue that is certainly important to many voters.

At the nomination meeting of the Free Voters on November 30, 2024 in Seehausen, Marksteiner was also proposed as a Bundestag candidate. He has positioned himself clearly and would like to help anchor the Free Voters in the Bundestag. The support of members and voters is particularly important to him because the political challenges are great and require strong local voices.

So anyone who relies on active, citizen-oriented politics should not miss the coming elections. Things remain exciting in Weilheim! The political course is now being set, and Michael Marksteiner has what it takes to motivate people and take them on the journey.
