55 young people are starting their year of volunteer work in Würzburg – together for the community!

The eleventh round of the “FEEL FR.E.E – Voluntary.Ehrenamtlich.Engagiert” initiative starts today, October 26, 2025, in the Würzburg district. This program gives 55 young people from 22 communities the opportunity to volunteer for an entire school year. The goal is to gain at least 60 hours in a club, initiative or non-profit organization and gain important experience. How mainfranken.news reported, there are a variety of areas of application to choose from, such as the Red Cross, the food bank, libraries and the fire department.

The opening event in the district office offered an ideal opportunity for the participants to get to know each other better. The project was presented here by program coordinator Aileen Dorsch, and the young people received starter packages with T-shirts, jackets and bags. In his speech, District Administrator Thomas Eberth emphasized the importance of commitment to the community and encouraged young people to take responsibility. At the end of the school year, participants can expect not only a certificate from the district, but also a certificate from their place of employment and a school-free FEEL-FR.E.E. day as a reward.

Volunteer opportunities and challenges

But the commitment is not all good. How meincharivari.de reports that young people aged 13 and over are being sought for various voluntary projects. The motto here is “Feel Fr.e.e. – Voluntary.Voluntary.Committed – the school year that takes you further”. Successful graduates in recent years have consistently received positive feedback about personal development and the discovery of their own talents, which further increases the attractiveness of such programs.

Volunteering is, above all, a voluntary and unpaid service that serves the common good. How on deutsches-ehrenamt.de can be read, a variety of motivations motivate young people to get involved. In addition to religious motives and the desire to help, the search for like-minded people and social connections are also among the motives. Whether in the volunteer fire department, in sports clubs or in youth work opportunities - the opportunities for volunteer work are limitless.

Outlook on the commitment

The anticipation of the upcoming engagement is palpable. The young people have the chance not only to promote their social skills, but also to gain valuable experience that can be important for the future. Such commitment forms an important basis for personal and professional development. In addition, there is usually a strong advisory team at the young people's side for training and support. Through such programs, volunteering in the Würzburg district is not only promoted, but also actively practiced.
