It's a weekend of restrictions for Hamburg drivers! From next Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the Köhlbrand Bridge will be closed for necessary construction work. The closure will affect the entire weekend and will particularly keep residents and commuters in the region on their toes. The reason for this is final renovation work and extensive asphalt work, which will lead to the improvement of the A7 motorway from six to eight lanes.
However, the A7 motorway will remain open throughout this period, so that traffic on this important connection will not come to a standstill. “The Köhlbrand Bridge is a real traffic artery for us, especially for heavy goods traffic, which connects the port with the A1 and A7 motorways,” explains a spokesman for the construction site management.
Detours and restrictions
So anyone planning to use the Köhlbrand Bridge should be prepared for diversions. On Friday morning, access to the bridge via Finkenwerder Street will only be possible in one lane for three hours. Detours are already signposted and direct traffic via the following streets:
- Finkenwerder Straße
- Waltershofer Straße
- Fürstenmoordamm
- Kattwykdamm
- Moorburger Hauptdeich
- Rethedamm
- Roßdamm
