Shock in Heidelberg: 60-year-old hiker missing for days!
In the Heidelberg city area, the search for 60-year-old Bahrudin Sahman has increased in intensity. The man who was reported missing on Sunday morning, October 5, 2025, took his wife to work as usual, but he never returned. This alerted his family, who immediately informed the police as Sahman had not been reachable since then. His vehicle was finally discovered in the Heiligenberg/Thingstätte hiking car park, which caused further concern as Sahman is a passionate hiker and an accident cannot be ruled out, as the police emphasize. An accident in the impassable terrain could have reached tragic proportions, as he is dependent on medication, which further dramatizes the situation.
The search operations, which began on Sunday evening, included the extensive use of a helicopter and sniffer dogs. However, despite these efforts, the results remained disappointing and unsuccessful. Family and friends expressed concern as time is short and every day without news about Sahman makes hope fade. As the news portal RNZ reported, it could also be that Sahman needs help in a health emergency, which is why the police are calling for an intensified public search.
Details about the person
The description of the missing Bahrudin Sahman could help potential witnesses recognize him: The man has a tanned complexion, is slim, about 173 cm tall and weighs between 75 and 80 kg. His hair and beard are short and white, his eyes are brown. There is also a birthmark under the hairline on the left forehead. He was last seen wearing a sleeveless, dark brown vest that can also be turned orange, a gray or dark blue hoodie, gray sweatpants and dark blue shoes. The police are urgently appealing for information on how to find the man.
Politics and society in view
Unfortunately, missing person cases like this are not uncommon in Germany. Between 200 and 300 people are reported missing every day, and the clearance rate for children and young people is remarkably high. The clearance rate for missing children is 99.8 percent, while that for young people between the ages of 14 and 17 is 97.6 percent. What remains unclear, however, is what happens to older missing people who sometimes remain missing for years. According to an analysis, the number of unsolved cases is high, which makes it even more important to work with the public to find people and ensure safety.
Bahrudin Sahman, who has been missing since October 5th, is wanted. Information should be sent to the Heppenheim Criminal Investigation Department, Commissariat 10, on 06252 706-0 or to any other police station. The machine is running and every minute counts.
