On Sunday, FC Giessen suffered another bitter defeat. The Gießen team lost 0-1 against the U21 team of SV Darmstadt 98 in the Waldstadion. This defeat marks the fourth in five games, and the situation in the Hessenliga is becoming increasingly dire for coach Michael Fink's team. Giessen finds itself in 15th place with just three points, a circumstance that leaves little hope of a quick turnaround with only three goals scored and ten goals already conceded. The crux of the encounter came in the 35th minute: a questionable penalty was the decision of referee Michele Abbondanza, who punished a foul in Giessen's penalty area. Smail Kadrijaj stepped up and confidently scored to make it 1-0 for Darmstadt - it was already his fifth goal of the season. There was great displeasure on the part of the Giessen team, especially Fink, and the coach struggled with the referee's excellent decision.

After falling behind, FC Giessen's performance dropped noticeably. Although they had several chances before the penalty, morale now seemed to be broken.
