Frankfurt is looking for the new wine queen: applications until July 31st!

In Frankfurt am Main, something is happening again around the local wine culture. Starting today, June 26, 2025, the city is looking for a new wine queen who will not only promote the fruity drops of the Lohrberger Hang, but also represent the city at numerous events. Finally, since 2017, Frankfurt has had the tradition of having a wine queen who showcases the city's winery and the wine region regionally and internationally. The application deadline for interested women ends on July 31, 2025, and applications can be submitted via the Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main (TCF) website.

The Lohrberger Hang, a proud piece of Frankfurt winegrowing with a vineyard area of 1.3 hectares, is part of the renowned Rheingau wine-growing region. The Riesling wines from this area are offered under the illustrious name “Frankfurter Lohrberger Hang”. Around 10,000 bottles of this high-quality wine are produced every year, which can be found in the Roman Tourist Information Office, among other places. During her term in office, the wine queen presents the wine-growing region at many events, including the Rheingau wine market and the Mainfest.

The role of the wine queen

The requirements for the wine queen are high: interested women must be of legal age, have a passion for wine and have a close connection to Frankfurt. Good communication skills and warmth are also required. Lena Roie, the current wine queen, comes from a Frankfurt family of showmen and has not only become involved as a wine queen, but has also expanded her expertise to become a sommelier. She will lay down the crown and apply for the position of Rheingau Wine Queen after extending her term of office for another year. The wine stand she runs is a popular stop for wine lovers.

The attractive crown that the Wine Queen wears on official occasions was designed in 2017 for the first female incumbent. It is made of gold-plated silver and shows the Frankfurt skyline and important buildings, surrounded by vines and a vine. A true symbol of the successful connection between Frankfurt's urban character and rural winegrowing in the Rheingau.

The search for talent

The TCF is responsible for the organizational support of the Wine Queen and is specifically looking for suitable candidates at various wine festivals in the Rheingau. Until now, there was no classic choice due to a lack of wineries and winegrowers' daughters. TCF managing director Thomas Feda is taking over the “casting” almost alone and is happy about the prospect of a breath of fresh air in the office of wine queen.

It remains exciting to see who will apply to succeed Lena Roie by the end of July. Perhaps the next wine queen will enrich the cityscape with her charismatic demeanor and her passion for wine. The wine culture in Frankfurt continues to flourish, and we can look forward to seeing what the coming term of office will look like. Applications can be submitted directly via the official TCF website. The contact person is Ines Philipp, who can be reached at philipp@infofrankfurt.de.
