Frankfurt Christmas Market 2025: Splendor, enjoyment and festive diversity!
A festive highlight brightens up Frankfurt's city center: since November 24th Frankfurt Christmas market his visitors. This traditional event extends across the city's central locations, including Roßmarkt, Hauptwache, Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, Römerberg and the banks of the Main.
With more than 200 festively decorated stalls, there is something for every palate. Delicacies such as mulled wine, bratwurst, chestnuts and the Frankfurt specialty Bethmännchen made from marzipan invite you to linger. There are also handicrafts, toys and Christmas decorations on offer to make every Christmas lover's heart beat faster.
The magic of events
But it's not just the stands that attract the crowds. A great supporting program provides entertainment: concerts, tower bubbles and the big city bells bring a Christmas atmosphere to the city. A special event is the visit of Santa Claus, which takes place on December 6th at 5:10 p.m. on the stage at Römerberg. The official opening on November 24th included a Christmas concert by the Frankfurt Opera and the opening speech by Mayor Mike Josef.
Another highlight is the large Christmas tree on the Römerberg, which was lit up for the opening ceremony and now shines festively. The market's opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere. Particularly noteworthy are the historic railway's steam train rides, which take place on December 13th and 14th and offer a nostalgic experience.
Variety for all tastes
The “Pink Christmas Market” awaits visitors on Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, which was specially designed for the LGBTIQ community. Not only are enjoyment and arts and crafts neglected here, but children can also look forward to their own Christmas market on the Mainkai, which offers numerous hands-on activities and entertainment.
As for how to get there, it is advisable to come to the festive events in public. You can easily get there by subway (lines U4 and U5 to the Dom/Römer station) or trams (lines 11, 12, 14 to the Römer/Paulskirche stop). Parking options are available nearby, for example in the “Dom/Römer”, “Hauptwache” and “Konstabler” car parks.
