Cult kiosk Orange Beach closes: What does that mean for Frankfurt?

The people of Cologne love their kiosks, and one of the most popular among them, “Orange Beach,” is facing a drastic turning point. Leased by Olaf Gries almost 20 years ago, the kiosk has developed into a cozy meeting place between Griesheim and Gallus. With its inviting beer benches, beach chairs and scenic views of the Main, Orange Beach attracts a diverse mix of guests - from stressed-out bankers to older residents who just want to soak up the atmosphere. The FAZ reports that Olaf Gries has continually improved the kiosk over the years and even integrated modern technology.

But at the end of the year, Orange Beach will have to temporarily close. The reason for this is necessary construction work by Deutsche Bahn, which wants to widen a bridge. Gries was informed about this early on and shows understanding for the construction work, even if the closure hurts. During the work, the kiosk will be used as a construction site office in the future, which unfortunately lacks the usual flair of the popular meeting place.

Unity to preserve the kiosk

To keep Orange Beach alive, a petition was launched that has already collected 7,000 signatures. This shows how important this kiosk is to the local community. Olaf Gries has also already been looking for a new location should there be a permanent closure. Ideally, the new location should offer water and electricity connections and not be too fancy - a real kiosk.

Orange Beach has a colorful history filled with events, music and social interactions. Not only is schnapps served here, but a kind of cultural exchange is also offered. Olaf has made it clear that he has no interest in retirement and wants to remain active. After all, it is the lively exchange with the guests that drives him and enlivens the hustle and bustle.

Kiosk technology is changing

The company offers completely different dimensions KIOSK, which is very popular with tailor-made self-service solutions for various industries. Their solutions are found in over 250,000 kiosks worldwide, ranging from payment services to hospitality to ticketing systems. With a dedicated team of experts in industrial design and mechanical engineering, KIOSK is a leader in the development of innovative kiosk technologies.

In addition to producing kiosks, KIOSK also offers comprehensive support services. This includes site analysis and even the installation of devices. The company has invested heavily in recent years in developing IoT-enabled components to enable real-time network monitoring and management. KIOSK always has an open ear and corresponding offers for the retail, healthcare and hotel industries.

Orange Beach represents a significant part of Frankfurt's kiosk culture, while KIOSK is striving for an impressive future in digitalization and self-service technology. Both facets show how diverse the kiosk landscape is - from nostalgic meeting points to modern self-service solutions that make everyday life easier.
