Summer 2025: Young people can travel to France for free with the Deutschlandticket!

Summer, sun, France – what more could you want? In the months of July and August 2025, teenagers and young adults under the age of 28 from Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland can travel to France with the Deutschlandticket. This promotion could be a real bargain for many, as travel with the Deutschlandticket or the D-Ticket JugendBW is possible without additional ticket prices for regional transport in the Grand Est region and to Paris Gare de l'Est, like SOUTHWEST24 reported.

The campaign aims to promote sustainable travel and cross-border coexistence. It is not only a great opportunity for young travelers to get to know the culture and country of our neighbors, but also a contribution to climate protection. On the way to France you can choose between various means of transport, including regional trains and bus connections, such as bus routes 231 from Rastatt to Soufflenheim and 68R026 from Breisach to Colmar.

Just travel and arrive

Of particular note is the free reservation required for trips from Strasbourg and Mulhouse to Paris, as well as for some TER-Fluo trains within France. So if you want to travel to the French capital quickly and easily, you should book in good time to secure your place. The use of the Deutschlandticket does not apply to city and long-distance transport in France - here it remains regional train transport, so that in case of doubt travelers have to use the regional train RB 25 from Offenburg if they want to travel between Kehl and Strasbourg.

The campaign was launched in 2024 and is very popular. This is also shown by the signals for a possible longer continuation of this initiative. Similar offers and connections could emerge in the coming years to expand travel options Future public transport network.

Limitless possibilities

Young travelers from eastern France also have the opportunity to travel to Germany with the Jeune Pass. This not only promotes exchange between countries, but also strives for a Europe of solidarity. This initiative was recently presented in Strasbourg, the home town of Alsace, which traditionally attracts many German tourists who enjoy visiting the region's castles, such as the Haut-Koenigsbourg.

The price for the Deutschlandticket - which has been available since May 1, 2022 for 49 euros per month - remains constant and allows access to almost all local and regional transport in Germany. Some routes have already been released for trips abroad, such as to Weissenburg and Lauterburg, thus expanding the travel offerings for interested users. So if you're planning for the Summer Olympics in Paris from July 26th, it's the perfect opportunity to experience French culture up close, as well ZDF today reported.

For young people from the region who are looking for new adventures, the Deutschlandticket is a great way to easily discover new horizons - and also make a contribution to sustainable travel. Pack your bags and hit the road!
