Café Panda in Fulda: Temporary closure for new perspectives!
There are changes in Fulda's coffee culture that affect fans of the popular Café Panda. On May 5, 2025, the café was temporarily closed due to operational reasons. Owner Alexander Rosenfeld explained that he is working intensively behind the scenes to stabilize operations and is planning some measures to achieve this. Plans include, among other things, a new cash register system and expanded storage space, which are necessary to give the café a breath of fresh air. Conscientiousness is also evident in Rosenfeld's further training, who wants to train in his own restaurant in order to offer young people a perspective in the catering industry. After five years without rest days or company holidays, this closure was unavoidable in order to catch up on important things. Although no specific opening date was given, Rosenfeld is optimistic about the cafe's reopening.
But there is more news from the world of Café Panda that surprised customers: The café in Hünfeld recently announced its closure after the rental agreement was not extended after two years. This decision was communicated via the café’s social media channels. Here the operator cites an expiring rental agreement and a business realignment as reasons for the closure. The Hünfelder Café was a popular destination, especially for breakfast lovers.
Reopening and vouchers
The catering industry is constantly changing, and current trends show that sustainability and digitalization are more important than ever. The trend is towards regional and environmentally friendly products, as more and more people pay attention to the origin of their food. The catering industry is increasingly using digital cash register systems and new technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence to automate and increase efficiency. Around 28 percent of service companies are already using AI, 35 percent are discussing it and 16.5 percent are planning to use it.
The younger generation in particular is open to mobile payments and contactless payments, which offers time and security. But sustainability is also a big issue in larger companies like McDonald's - in 2023 alone, over 14,300 tons of food waste was generated in Germany, a circumstance that causes problems for many catering establishments. Solutions to reduce food waste, such as the Too Good To Go app, are being actively used to address the challenge.
With his changes and focus on quality and training, Alexander Rosenfeld not only wants to ensure the stability of Café Panda, but also set an example for the future of gastronomy in the Fulda area. The reopening is highly anticipated and could herald a refreshing new era for the cafe.
