Premiere of The Pope: A brilliant evening awaits in Fulda!

On June 13, 2025, the red carpet will roll out for the premiere of the new version of “The Pope” in the Fulda Castle Theater. This performance marks the start of the Fulda summer of musicals and attracts numerous prominent guests from culture, politics and business. The elegant foyer of the castle theater offers a festive backdrop in which the atmosphere is characterized by energy and anticipation. The invited guests are welcomed to a stylish champagne reception and enjoy an unforgettable night.

The main role in this spectacular musical is played by Sandy Mölling, who is known as the former singer of the successful girl group No Angels. Her return to the stage as “The Pope” is eagerly awaited, because in addition to her musical talent, Mölling also brings with her a remarkable resilience and natural personality, as producer Peter Scholz praises. Mölling himself has proven himself in the role and is an asset to the new production, which is based on the Gil Mehmert version from 2024.

New production with fresh accents

The audience can expect special innovations in this performance. Scene four at the Bishop's Palace in Dorstadt was completely redesigned, with fresh staging, innovative choreography and impressive lighting design. Talented choreographer Andrea Kingston has incorporated new dance scenes, while costumes and sets have been tweaked - including a redesigned papal throne and ornately decorated staircases.

The collaboration with regional partners such as Schreinerei Bohrmann and Stahlbau Hahner also brings a local reference to the production, which underlines the community spirit of this performance. Peter Scholz is optimistic: advance sales are going well and the occupancy rate for “The Pope” already exceeds that of “Robin Hood,” which premieres on August 1st. The goal for this season, which lasts until July 20th, is a occupancy rate of over 90 percent.

Looking into the future

But Fulda has even more in store: In addition to “Pope Princess”, new projects are already being planned for 2026. Among other things, the popular piece “Schimmelreiter”, which is sure to captivate the audience again. Tickets for “The Pope” are already available at the newspaper’s offices and have met with great interest.

An exciting summer of musicals is coming up, and Fulda can look forward to rousing evenings full of singing, dancing and emotions. Anyone who misses this brilliant premiere will really be missing out.
