The 2025/2026 winter season is just around the corner and the anticipation of the first descents is palpable. On January 1st at 10:00 a.m., the Wasserkuppe ski area in the Rhön will be the first to open its slopes to winter sports enthusiasts this winter. The team led by operations manager Florian Heitmann made the final preparations after the lifts had previously come to a standstill due to an inversion weather situation. Fulda newspaper reports that the fairytale meadow lift, the ski rental and the fairytale meadow hut will be available at the opening. The magic carpet lift opened for tobogganists a few days earlier.
According to management, the piste conditions are optimal and pleasant surprises can be expected in the first few days of the season. In the coming days, the offering will be gradually expanded so that winter sports lovers can look forward to a wide range of activities.

Opening hours are daily until 6:00 p.m. during New Year's week. After that, regular times apply from Monday to Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Fridays the lifts operate until 10:00 p.m., while on the weekends the lifts open from 9:30 a.m. Ski News adds that the 2025/2026 ski season has already started in many places, although the opening dates can usually be adjusted depending on snow conditions.
