Exciting weekend in East Hesse: lantern parade and sports highlights!
At the weekend there are a variety of exciting events in East Hesse that will delight young and old. Particularly outstanding is the “Movement for Life” pilot project, which begins on November 14th in the Hermann Lietz School at Bieberstein Castle.
At 2:30 p.m. Dr. Dieter Lagerstroem and headmaster Dr. Michael Kleinen will lead the presentation. The Hermann Lietz schools are characterized by their educational methodology, which is based on the principles of the educator Hermann Lietz, who strived for holistic education. In these rural educational homes, around 8 to 10 students live under the guidance of a teacher in so-called “home families”, where trust and responsibility are very important. Such projects are not only educational, but also an excellent opportunity to experience community and learn from each other. This is also described on the website of the Hermann Lietz Schools, which highlights their tradition since 1898 as a source of individual and creative education. More on this below Wikipedia.
Traditional celebrations and competitions
Another highlight on the same day is the lantern parade in Bad Hersfeld, in which all of the city's daycare centers will take part. The parade begins in the afternoon and ends with a special “Happy Birthday” for the Bad Hersfeld Festival – a truly festive atmosphere that brings young and old together.
If you want to support the region's sporting talents, you shouldn't miss the final event of the Sparkasse Grand Prix in the Dipperz community center. The best athletes will be honored from 6:00 p.m. In the evening we continue with the carnival opening “Gückelschlüpfen” in Dirlos, where there will be a celebration with music and dancing in the community center at 7:31 p.m. The enthronement of the new royal couple in Neuhof also brings festive splendor to the region.
Sporting events and commemorative events
The following day, November 15th, also has many highlights in store. A football match between FSV Frankfurt and SG Barockstadt is on the agenda - kick-off is at 2:00 p.m. A perfect opportunity for sports enthusiasts! And not to forget: The reopening of the German-American sports center in Fulda at 4:30 p.m. and the Caritas solidarity campaign “One Million Stars” in the Fulda parish church from 5:00 p.m., which represents important support for the community with its social commitment.
In the evening we start another carnival season with the prince proclamation of the Eiterfeld carnival club at 7:33 p.m. and further enthronements, which are already a tradition in the region. A must for all fools!
Insights into nature and memory
On November 16th, Remembrance Day, a central commemoration ceremony will take place at the memorial for war victims at St. Michael's Church in Fulda. The deceased will be remembered there at 11:15 a.m.
Families have the opportunity to take part in the swimming badge day in the Ziehers sports pool between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. This not only preserves memories, but also brings a bit of joie de vivre into your free time.
Overall, the weekend offers a colorful mix of tradition, sport and community. Take the opportunity to become active in the East Hesse region and take part in these special events!
