Storm squalls warning: Danger for Fulda and Hersfeld-Rotenburg on Sunday!
In many parts of East Hesse the weather today is anything but friendly. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official warning of squalls for the Fulda and Hersfeld-Rotenburg districts. This warning is valid on Sunday, October 26th from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. The information comes from a recent alert that was released on Saturday evening and is worrying many local residents.
Regions such as the Fulda district and Hersfeld-Rotenburg will be particularly affected. The DWD warns of gusts of level 2 out of 4, which poses a serious threat. Wind speeds are expected to reach between 60 and 80 kilometers per hour. The gusts come from the southwest and can be even more intense, especially at higher altitudes, such as in the Vogelsberg district.
Dangers and recommendations
The dangers posed by the forecast gusts of wind are manifold: falling branches and flying objects can lead to injuries or property damage. The DWD therefore recommends securing free-standing objects such as furniture and screens. Outdoor objects should be securely secured to avoid possible damage. It is also advisable to pay attention to falling objects when you are outdoors.
Thursday's situation has already given a foretaste of the challenges that await us today. At that time too, the DWD warned, not only for the Fulda and Hersfeld-Rotenburg districts, but also for the Vogelsberg district and the Main-Kinzig district. The storm has now moved from the English Channel to the southern North Sea, which could further worsen the weather situation. It is therefore advisable to stay updated.
Weather trend for the weekend
What awaits us after the storm? The weather trend for the weekend shows a moderate to fresh wind, bringing stormy gusts. Admittedly, this weather is not exactly inviting, especially for nature trips. Interestingly, maximum temperatures between 14 and 17 degrees are expected in Hesse, although the mountain areas could only reach around 10 degrees. Together with the possibility of heavy rain and some strong thunderstorms, the weather has a lot in store.
Overall, it is important to be well prepared during these stormy times. The DWD is currently providing important information about the storms in Germany. It is recommended that you regularly take a look at the current warnings in order to be able to react to the circumstances. The severe weather warnings are issued for the individual districts and can be easily accessed so that no one is left in the dark. So stay alert and keep yourself and those around you safe!
