Miracle of medicine: premature baby Chiara overcomes all odds!

The family of Chiara, who was born prematurely in the 24th week of pregnancy, tells a story full of hope and incredible strength. Her parents, Stefanie Jährling and Christian Paglialonga, went through a period of fear during the pregnancy: Stefanie suffered from heavy bleeding and pain while doctors were already preparing her for a possible miscarriage. But fate had other plans for the little girl. Chiara was born, but seriously ill, and the challenge for the family began.

After treatment at a clinic in southern Germany did not produce the desired results, the family turned to it in desperation Fulda Hospital. There was hope there: Professor Dr. Reinald Repp, director of the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Medicine, responded quickly to Stefanie's request and offered Chiara immediate admission without raising false hopes. The decision to move to Fulda would prove to be crucial.

Medical excellence and emotional support

At the Fulda Clinic, where over 100 specialists work in the women's and children's clinic, the family experienced not only professional expertise, but also a deep human connection. “The team not only provided Chiara with medical care, but also provided us with emotional support,” reports Stefanie gratefully. Thanks to modern technology, such as the “NAVA” ventilation mode, Chiara learned to breathe independently, and after almost half a year in the hospital, she was finally discharged without ventilation or medication.

The Fulda Clinic is one of the best perinatal centers in Germany and has been recognized several times by the Institute for Quality and Transparency in Healthcare (IQTIG). In terms of early morbidity, i.e. the rate of serious illnesses in premature babies, it is one of the top facilities among 213 perinatal centers. Around 250 premature babies are born here every year, with special features such as low birth weight and complications requiring specialized care. The close collaboration in weekly perinatal conferences guarantees the best care for the little patients.

A new phase of life

The family's gratitude for the dedicated clinical team is immeasurable. The stay in Fulda not only ensured Chiara's survival, but also created a beautiful bond between the family and the employees. “We not only received medical help, but also found a family,” says Christian, touched. In a few weeks, Chiara will celebrate her first birthday - a small miracle that has become a reality thanks to Cologne's determination and medical expertise.
