Pino the cat is urgently looking for a new home – give him a chance!
A very special cat is waiting for his home at the Giessen animal shelter. The tabby British Shorthair named Pino came to the animal shelter in September 2024 and has hardly received any inquiries from interested parties since then. This curious and active cat, who can often be moody, has a lot to offer. He shows a strong character and ensures that no day is boring. The animal rights activists emphasize that Pino's wounds and allergies that he initially had have now healed well, and with the right medication he could have a good time in a sensitive family. Since Pino is allergic to food mites and house dust mites, he should ideally be placed in a household with experienced cat owners - children should not be too young in order not to risk conflicts. The Staffordshire mix dog Tammy, who has been waiting for a new home in the animal shelter since Christmas 2024, also shared a similar fate.[ Giessen General ] reported.
The Giessen animal shelter is the first point of contact for all animal lovers in Giessen and the surrounding area, whether for the adoption or surrender of animals. Here people can find not only cats and dogs, but also small animals, birds and reptiles. The opportunities for animal lovers are currently good, as dogs and cats are often adopted quickly, and in addition to Pino, there are also numerous puppies and kittens there. The shelter is supported by the local animal protection association, which can also be contacted by phone or social media to get an insight into the animals available.[ animalshelter.com ] informs that the online presence of the animal protection association provides an initial overview.
Adoption made easy
Adopting a shelter animal is a wonderful way to give a pet a second chance while making room for additional cats in need. The placement costs are between 50 and 100 euros, depending on the age and special characteristics of the animals. Before the adoption, a personal interview is held to clarify the interested party's living circumstances and to ensure that the new home meets the animal's needs.[ Animal Welfare League ] explains that preliminary inspections of the new environment are usually decided on an individual basis.
A free nutritional starter pack is included when adopting a kitten, providing comprehensive advice and information on how to care for the new family member in a species-appropriate manner. This support remains even after the adoption, so that adoptive owners are always the contact person for questions and can report on the progress of their protégés.
The Gießen animal shelter not only offers the opportunity to give animals a new home, but also a committed community that is actively committed to animal protection. Volunteers are always welcome to help with the daily work at the animal shelter, be it by walking the dogs or collecting donations.
