Federal competition of the DRK: 500 Red Crossers compete in Fulda!

An exciting weekend is currently underway in Fulda. The 63rd national preparedness competition of the German Red Cross (DRK) will take place from September 19th to 21st, 2025. Under the patronage of Hesse's Minister of the Interior and Homeland Security, Prof. Dr. According to Roman Poseck, around 500 Red Crossers from all over Germany will be competing to demonstrate their skills in various disciplines. The event is not only used for competition, but also for networking and exchanging ideas with each other. This further strengthens the sense of community within the DRK.

The competition includes a total of 10 disciplines, which focus on the areas of medical services, care services, technology and logistics. These are carried out at 16 stations in and around the city center of Fulda up to the nearby Fulda-Aue recreation area. Christian Erwin, the chief organizer of the competition, emphasizes that intensive preparations were made by a dedicated organizational staff and over 150 volunteers from the DRK Fulda. These not only support the running of the competition, but also provide the necessary food for the participants.

A colorful hustle and bustle and a variety of tasks

The event is seen by many people as an opportunity to get to know each other better and exchange experiences. Around 400 participants from the 16 state winning teams will show what they have learned at a total of 16 stations. A photographer, Carina Jirsch, will capture the highlights of the competition so that the unforgettable moments will also be documented for posterity.

The German Red Cross is not only involved in such competitions, but is also always looking for new volunteers. These can work in a variety of areas, from caring for seniors and helping after accidents to looking after refugees and working in the medical service during events. There are numerous opportunities to get actively involved and offer everyone the chance to get involved and help shape the Red Cross, regardless of whether they have previous knowledge or not. Training is offered to help newcomers get started, while experienced helpers can deepen their knowledge.

Strong together for society

The importance of such events cannot be overestimated. Not only do they promote cohesion within the organization, but they are also a visible demonstration of the strength of the German Red Cross. The competition is intended to be a platform on which teams can demonstrate their skills while appreciating and showcasing the voluntary commitment that forms the basis of this important institution.

The 63rd national competition in Fulda will not only be a test for the participants, but also a celebration of togetherness and the commitment of many people to the well-being of society.
