230 students discover study opportunities at the THM in Friedberg!
Today the trial day “FIT for choosing a course of study” took place at the Friedberg campus of the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM). Around 230 students from various upper levels, including high schools, technical colleges and vocational schools, took the opportunity to find out about the diverse study programs at THM. Compared to the previous year, this means an increase of 70 participants – something is happening!
The students came from the cities of Oberursel, Wetzlar, Bad Homburg, Bad Nauheim, Butzbach, Ortenberg and Marburg and were accompanied by 12 teachers. They also received exciting insights into the university's laboratories and departments. The THM organizes this event in cooperation with the State School Office for the Hochtaunuskreis and the Wetteraukreis to make it easier for young people to choose a suitable course of study.
Diverse fields of study to try out
The participants had the opportunity to become active in various subject areas, including technology and electronics, technology and mechanics, physics and mobility, and economics and technology. The practical experiments, such as floating balls in the physics laboratory or constructing a digital cube, were particularly popular. The introduction to a CAD program to design a rocket keychain was also well received. An absolute eye-catcher was the control of trains and trams with driving simulators - the future is even more exciting!
Another highlight of the day was the lecture by Henrik Sprankel, a former THM student who now works as a development engineer at Werth Messtechnik. His topic “High-tech to see through: industrial computer tomography at Werth” gave the students exciting insights into everyday working life and the possibilities of a career in technology.
Advice and perspectives
After the experiments and lectures, Doris Helf from the Central Student Advisory Service was available to provide information about the courses offered, application deadlines and entry requirements. It was clear that THM not only has a good hand in practical training, but also in student advice. The consultation services are free of charge – whether on site, by telephone or online. This was the ideal setting for the participants so that they did not miss any opportunity to choose the best course of study.
The THM has established itself as a university with a strong application orientation. How THM explains, the focus is on practical training that optimally prepares students for the requirements of the job market. The courses, which are structured in a modularized system, offer not only theoretical basics but also extensive practical content.
For future students, there is not only a wide range of courses on offer, but also numerous support programs, such as the “GettING Started” support program, which is particularly helpful if you face particular challenges during your studies.
The trial day was not only an excellent opportunity for the students to find out about training paths and the world of higher education, but also an opportunity for the THM to strengthen its role as an innovative university in Hesse. How Education server notes, technical colleges like the THM are known for their close connection to professional practice, which makes this university particularly attractive.
