Benefit concert in Karben: A musical festival for young people!
On Sunday, November 8th, 2025, a very special event took place in the Karben community center: The Kassel Army Music Corps gave a benefit concert on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the youth orchestra of the Kurt Schumacher School and the Karben city band. Under the direction of bandmaster Christoph Schiffers, the ensemble impressed the listeners with a varied program.
The core goal of the concert was to promote young musicians, which underlined the importance of the event. Susanne Galisch, board member of the city band, warmly thanked the talented musicians and the sponsors, which included the city of Karben and the company satis&fy.
Diverse musical offering
The concert offered a musical trip around the world, which introduced the listeners to stops in Paris, the Lesser Antilles and New York, among other places. Before the official start of the concert, the musicians held a workshop concert with the “Aeroflott” youth orchestra, which increased the anticipation even further. The highlights of the program included pieces such as “Flashing Winds” by Jan van der Roost and “Variations On A Theme Of Robert Schumann” by Robert Jager.
Senior Sergeant Max Arnold appeared as a soloist on the tenor horn and enchanted the audience with his virtuoso playing. The steel pan was also presented by Staff Sergeant Claudia Römer, which conjured up Caribbean sounds in the air. Particularly noteworthy were the film music arrangements, which included tunes from “How to Train Your Dragon” and the 1989 Batman film.
An unforgettable ending
After a short break, Friedrich Zikoff's German Kaiser March warmed up the audience again. The concert culminated in an enthusiastic finale, which ended with a standing ovation and the performance of two marches and the German national anthem. In this setting, the audience was able to experience the energy and passion of the musicians up close.
The event not only promoted young musicians, but also strengthened the sense of community in Karben. Many thanks to the Kassel Army Music Corps and all the actors who contributed to this successful evening! This shows once again: music connects and conjures up memories - and not just in Karben. For curious concert-goers, it is also worth taking a look at other events organized by the Heeresmusikkorps Kassel, including a charity concert on June 29, 2025 in Wilhelmsthal Castle, which is known for its musical diversity and a children's program.
