What's going on in Kassel right now? The city has transformed into a hotspot for music lovers in the last few days. The Kassel Music Days are underway and bring a colorful program that ranges from classical music to contemporary sounds. On Thursday, October 23rd, the opening concert with the Bridges Chamber Orchestra took place in the auditorium of the Heinrich Schütz School. With a musical mixture of Arabic, Persian and European sounds as well as jazz and folklore, this ensemble, which combines instruments and sound languages from all over the world, delights its listeners. Today, October 25th, there is another highlight: The Ensemble Continuum presents “Music for the Multiverse”, where pop culture and baroque masked balls can be heard. The motto of the Music Days is “Where does music sound from?” and aims to bring sounds from different eras and cultural areas to life at special places in Kassel.

On a typical Monday, for example, music and literature fans can relax in the Sandershaus with a salon music concert with Oliver Leuer, while in the Ev. Church center in Vellmar Literature enthusiasts can look forward to a sold-out reading by Peter Prange. For those interested in art, the DEZ shopping center is offering a worthwhile photo exhibition entitled “Street Photography” until November 11th.
Tuesday is all about music with various concerts, including “Ja, Weill!” in the Augustinum and “From Folk to Cabaret” in the Sara Nussbaum Center. If you like something a little more upscale, you can stop by the Martinskirche on Wednesday for choral music by Brahms and Biermann - admission is even free!
A look into the coming days
The weekend offers an exciting mix. On Saturday, October 28th, the premiere of the Soulution choir with a new program will take place in the Church of the Redeemer in Harleshausen, while on Sunday there will be several concerts in the Palais Bellevue - including the matinee concert with masterpieces by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. A treat for all classical music lovers!
During the entire days of the Kassel Music Days until November 2nd, there will also be offers such as guided tours, workshops and special children's events that further enrich the city's cultural diversity. The Saturday market in the market hall remains open until 6 p.m. every day to offer visitors fresh products and a nice ambience.
