Missing Kassel 46-year-old found safe and sound: police cheer!

A 46-year-old man from Kassel has been missing since October 20, 2025. He has left his usual living environment and his relatives are understandably worried. The police are asking for information as the man urgently needs medical attention. An appeal to the public was launched after previous search efforts were unsuccessful. The man's special characteristics are his corpulent build, his height of 1.85 meters, a full beard and a limping gait. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black winter jacket, blue jeans, a baseball cap and eye-catching special orthopedic shoes in blue and brown. Witnesses who know anything about his whereabouts are asked to contact the North Hesse Police Headquarters or any other police station on 0561/9100. Fortunately, there was a positive update on October 23, 2025: the missing man returned safely. According to police information, a witness tip led to the man's rediscovery and he is doing well. This good news has significantly eased the tension among his relatives.

Another missing person case: 15-year-old Leon S.

The next missing person case is in focus in Kassel. 15-year-old Leon S., who lives in a youth residential group in the Kassel district, has been missing since November 30, 2024. The public was called upon to help on December 19, 2024, but so far there has been no concrete information as to his whereabouts. Investigations and searches in personal surroundings brought no results. Interestingly, a letter from Leon was found at a relative's workplace last week. In this he says that he is doing well, but does not want to reveal his whereabouts. There is no evidence of a crime and the police suspect that Leon S. has found shelter with an unknown person. He is described as 1.50 meters tall, with a strong build and short brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, gray sweatpants and sneakers when he disappeared.

Background to the missing person search

These cases are part of the large number of missing person reports that are processed daily in Germany. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has clear guidelines for missing people and unsolved cases. Adults are considered missing if they are inexplicably absent and a threat to life or limb is assumed. The situation is slightly different for minors: they are taken into state care if their whereabouts are unknown. Around 200 to 300 new missing person cases are recorded every year, with around 80% being resolved within a month. The targeted public relations work carried out in these cases often helps significantly in clarifying the matter. Around 18,100 children went missing in 2024, 96.7% of whom were found by the end of the year.
