On September 23, 2025 the time has finally come: The Charles Knie circus begins its eagerly awaited tour in Kassel with the spectacular show “Water Spectacle”. The event location is the Schwanenwiese exhibition center in Kassel's Unterneustadt. Over the next week and a half, visitors can look forward to a dazzling performance that shines not only through its attractions, but also through its creative implementation.

The manager of the circus, Sascha Melnjak, has been running the company since 2007 and has no family history in the circus environment. His journey to the circus began after training as a foreign trade merchant when he dreamed of the circus world as a child. His passion and commitment have led to the Charles Knie Circus having over 100 employees and now being based in Einbeck, Lower Saxony.

Spectacular show with emotions

The new show “100,000 liters of emotions” impresses with a unique combination of artistry, dance, music and comedy. A very special highlight are the approximately 100,000 liters of water, which are used in the form of impressive fountains and in a filled hemisphere. Visitors can look forward to a breathtaking production that is all about interaction with the audience. Melnjak describes the breathtaking performances as “a bit like TikTok” – fast-paced and exciting.

Also taking part are talented artists such as Devin and Davide, who show strapon flights, as well as Laura Urunova, who offers a captivating show with her intelligent parrots. For the first time, a large Chinese troupe of artists, the “Dezhou Acrobatic Troupe”, is expected with 14 top-class artists whose acrobatics are among the best in the world.

Circus Charles Knie success story

The circus's success story is impressive. Within two and a half years, over 1 million spectators have attended the performances, with always sold-out shows and frenetic applause. The circus has also earned the European Union's prestigious “Big Top Label” status in December 2024, which stands for the best entertainment for the whole family. This award underlines the high quality and great commitment of the entire team of almost 100 employees.

The logistical challenge should not be underestimated: over 40 semi-trailers are necessary to transport the tent, seating, technology and the water ring to the event location. The large tent can accommodate up to 1,260 spectators who can look forward to a spectacular show.

The stop in Kassel is particularly attractive for all circus fans, as the circus is performing here again after 13 years.
