Exploratory drilling for a new cycle path: closures in Görzhausen!
In the Marburg region, the focus will soon be on improving the infrastructure again. From Friday, October 10th to Saturday, October 11th, 2025, exploratory drilling for the planned cycle path along the L 3092 between Marburg-Marbach and Lahntal-Caldern will take place. These drillings take place directly in the area of the roundabout L 3092 / Michelbacher Straße. This measure is part of Hessen Mobil's comprehensive project, which is intended to improve traffic safety and the quality of traffic conditions, as mobil.hessen.de adds.
On Friday the work is planned from around 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while on Saturday it will start at 8 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. During this time there will be a partial closure of the L 3092 in Görzhausen, with traffic being regulated by construction site traffic lights. For drivers coming from Michelbach who want to drive in the direction of L 3092, there is a diversion via district road 77. A special restriction will apply on Saturday, as the junction of Michelbacher Straße with the roundabout will be closed during the entire working time. However, turning in the opposite direction is still possible.
Preparations for the bike path
The exploratory drilling is an important step in the run-up to the cycle path project, the preparatory work for which will last until the end of 2025, as marburg.de reports. The preparations include, among other things, surveying the road and the adjacent paths, site visits to document the existing structure and mapping the flora and fauna that reside there. These measures are crucial in order to optimally prepare the terrain for the new cycle path.
Private gardens and fenced-in company properties usually remain untouched, but property owners are obliged to tolerate the work under the Federal Highway Act. Those who suffer financial disadvantages as a result of the preparatory work should be compensated for these losses. If there are disagreements about compensation, the Giessen regional council will make the decision at the request of the road construction authority.
Sensible investment in the future
With the construction of the cycle path between Marburg-Marbach and Lahntal-Caldern, Hessen Mobil always aims to not only increase the safety of cyclists, but also to sustainably improve traffic conditions. This investment should not only optimize commuting but also boost leisure traffic.
During this time, questions will also be raised about how the project will affect local residents. But good planning and communication are essential so that residents and commuters are well informed and restrictions are kept as low as possible. The ongoing work promises to be a step in the right direction and make the region more attractive for cyclists. So let’s stay tuned for further developments!
