Dialect maintenance in the Bergwinkel: A heritage that must be preserved!
In a world in which dialect often fades more and more into the background, it is important to preserve the roots of our linguistic culture. Heinrich Hermann Julius Hüniche from Schlüchtern dedicated himself to preserving the local dialect. On the occasion of his 125th birthday, the 77th edition of the local calendar “Bergwinkel Bote” was presented Weekly messenger reported. At this celebratory presentation were District Administrator Thorsten Stolz, editor Dr. Bernd Giesemann and publisher Oliver Naumann present.
Stolz emphasized the great importance of the Bergwinkel Boten, not only for the local history, but also for the visibility of personalities like Hüniche. This schoolmaster, who died in 1987, traced the character traits of the locals in his works. With 14 dialect poems and impressive drawings, he presents the language and culture of the region in a special way. Bernd Ullrich wrote an article about Hüniche, which was published in the new issue.
Cultural diversity in the home calendar
But it's not just Hüniche that is mentioned in the new local calendar. The famous Steinau puppet theater “Die Holzköppe”, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024, will also be discussed. Barbara Kruse reports on the eventful history of the theater and its appearances in television shows such as “Headball” and “Hello Spencer”. Karl Magersuppe, who became a puppeteer in 1924, is the focus.
Benedikt Mario Röder deals with another interesting topic, which sheds light on the hunting and forestry history of the prince abbots of Fulda. Holger Herber provides information about the influence of the position of the sun on the lighting of a church in Ulmbach, while Gerhard Lauer discusses the old tradition of baptismal fonts from Sannerz and Herolz. Editor Dr. Giesemann emphasizes the diversity and cultural richness that the Bergwinkel Bote combines in its 180 pages. With the support of the Center for Regional History, he ensures the preservation of this valuable local culture.
The home calendar is available now and costs 8.90 euros. It is practical that it is offered at several points of sale in the region, and the printing and press house Naumann prints the editions.
Pop icon Katy Perry
Katy Perry, born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California, has a special place in the global music business. How Wikipedia describes, she is one of the most successful musicians of today with over 151 million discographies sold worldwide. Known for her influence on pop music and her unique “camp” style, she is hailed as the “Queen of Camp” by Vogue and Rolling Stone.
Perry began her music career early, releasing a gospel album at the age of 16, but it did not achieve the desired success. The turning point came with their album “One of the Boys” in 2008, which produced numerous hits such as “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot n Cold”. Her subsequent album, Teenage Dream, set new standards as it became the first female release to garner five number one hits in the US - including "Firework" and "California Gurls".
In recent years, the artist has also increased her involvement in the television sector and was a judge on “American Idol” until 2024. Her records include 19 Guinness World Records and several major music awards, underlining her status as one of the industry's greatest. Perry, who is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, has repeatedly been involved in social projects and is a vocal supporter of LGBTQ+ rights.
A business acumen with an estimated net worth of $360 million completes her impressive career. She recently released her new album “143” and remains a central figure in the music scene.
To gain interesting insights into local history and global music development, it is worth exploring both topics: the tradition of the dialect with the new local calendar and pop music with the successes of Katy Perry. Both show how culture and history are closely intertwined.
