Lennard Oehl is planning a comeback: This is how he wants to save the Main-Kinzig district!
Lennard Oehl, the 32-year-old former SPD MP from Nidderau, has taken on an exciting new professional challenge. He has recently been working as a consultant at the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he is working on a political location strategy for the Frankfurt financial center. This reports op online.
Oehl, who lost his direct mandate to CDU candidate Pascal Reddig in the federal election on February 23, 2025, draws a mixed conclusion from his turbulent last year. Between the dissolution of the Bundestag, new elections and the birth of his first child in December 2024, the time was anything but quiet for the SPD politician. He now lives with his wife in the Windecken district, where they bought and renovated a house.
Political ambitions remain
Despite his defeat in the federal election campaign, Oehl plans to become politically active again. He would like to run for local elections in the Main-Kinzig district in March 2026. Oehl has big plans and is currently deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district Main-Kinzig and treasurer on the district board of the SPD Hesse-South. In political discourse, he emphasizes the need for reform in social policy, especially pension and citizen's benefit regulations.
Another concern is strengthening the equity market in Germany in order to improve the economic framework for start-ups. Oehl believes that it is important to take on more responsibility within the SPD and does not rule out running for the Bundestag again. He sees issues such as broadband expansion and the trainee campus in Linsengericht as central points for the upcoming election campaign.
A look at Frankfurt and the upcoming elections
Mayor Mike Josef is calling for the SPD to act confidently so as not to lag behind again in the next election. The past elections showed that it is important to send a strong signal. Oehl could therefore play a significant role in developments within the SPD and in Frankfurt.
Overall, it remains to be seen how the political landscapes in Nidderau and Frankfurt will develop in the coming months. Lennard Oehl definitely still has a lot to do, and his return to the political stage could provide a breath of fresh air.
