Robin Mai: Young and committed – education is the focus of JuLis MKK!

In an exciting turn of events in the political landscape, Robin Mai will become the top candidate of the Young Liberals Main-Kinzig (JuLis MKK) for the 2026 local elections. Vorsprung Online reports that Mai, who was elected with excellent approval, is 32 years old and is already up and running as an entrepreneur and startup founder can look back on successful rungs in the economy. With his role as a family man, he brings a fresh and practical perspective to the political arena.

A central concern of May is the topic of education. He emphasizes that education is the most important promise of advancement in our society and therefore urgently calls for modern schools that are up to date in terms of both equipment and teacher supply. In particular, fewer canceled classes and a reliable supply of teachers are at the top of his agenda. For him, hygienic and intact sanitary facilities are also indispensable in order to create basic conditions for high-quality education. “Without strong foundations, digitalization is not effective,” explains Mai, highlighting this as a crucial point in his political vision.

The vision for the future

His candidacy began on September 9, 2025 in a JuLis MKK webinar, where Mai explained his plans for the future and reported to the members on pressing issues. It becomes clear that he is not just talking about empty words. He plans to commit himself “with passion and experience” to the region and actually make education the priority it deserves.

His views find an environment that has been increasingly critical of education policy in the recent past. Baden-Württemberg's decline in education rankings and the state government's current plans to cut universities by 91 million euros are alarming indicators. The goals of the Young Liberals also make it clear that education is seen as the backbone of our society. The creation of high-quality daycare centers and schools is at the top, accompanied by demands for a better childcare ratio and more support for educators, such as those demanded by Junge Liberale BW.

Comprehensive education reforms called for

May brings a breath of fresh air into the political ring by calling for discussion about greater promotion of ethics in primary schools and the remuneration of primary school teachers according to A13/E13. These issues are not only important for the teachers affected, but are also crucial for the entire school landscape in the region.

For Mai, the path to improving the education system and thus the quality of life of citizens is a central goal. With his concrete suggestions and unmistakable commitment to better conditions for students, teachers and educators, he sets out to actively address the challenges of the coming years.
