Bistro Auszeit opens in the Marburg district office: enjoyment for everyone!
On January 17th, 2026 the time had finally come: the new “Bistro Auszeit” opened its doors on the ground floor of the new district administration building in Marburg. This bistro, which is intended to offer administrative employees and the general population a break from everyday life, arrives with a varied menu Food, snacks and drinks. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., while a leisurely brunch is offered on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The first few days after the opening are already showing a high number of visitors. During lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., guests can look forward to a daily changing menu consisting of a meat dish, a vegetarian dish and a daily special. For the afternoon, the bistro offers snacks, sandwiches, coffee and cake.
Modern architecture meets sustainable technology
The new district administration building is not only a visual highlight, but also sets new standards in terms of sustainability. Agreen roof,a photovoltaic system, and a highly efficient ventilation system with heat recovery ensure an environmentally friendly overall appearance. The construction, which was carried out with a budget of around 23 million euros, started in November 2021 and could only be put into operation in October 2022 due to delays caused by the corona pandemic and material shortages.
The construction costs were supported by funding of around six million euros from the Hessenkasse as well as additional financial resources of around one million euros for the outdoor facilities. This shows that attention was paid not only to functionality, but also to the environment.
Integral as an operator with many years of experience
The bistro is run by Integral operated, one of the largest school caterers in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. The company brings more than 30 years of experience in the production and delivery of freshly prepared lunches, including serving over 40 primary schools in the region.
Integral relies on a healthy and varied catering concept that is based on the quality standards of the German Nutrition Society. The focus is on regionally sourced, GMO-free products, with the majority of the coffee coming from fair trade. More than 1,800 lunches are prepared every day at various locations throughout the district, and the bistro continually offers fresh, tasty food at fair prices.
Another plus point: The bistro is not only a place to eat, but also serves as a workplace for people who want to benefit from employment and qualification measures, which helps to improve integration.
Those who would like to get an insight into the bistro's current offerings can easily view the menu on the Marburg-Biedenkopf district's homepage - now we can only hope that the new bistro will be well received by the population and become a popular meeting place in the heart of Marburg.
