Stadtallendorf artist Feldpausch inspires again in South Korea!

Stadtallendorf is looking forward to July 14, 2025. The renowned painter and graphic artist Michael Feldpausch is preparing for his next visit to South Korea, where he will take part in an important group exhibition in Daegu at the end of July. Together with his artist colleague Viktor Nau, Feldpausch will present his work, which has already attracted great attention. In May and June he was able to exhibit together with five other artists in Gwangju and Daegu, which once again underlines the lively cultural relationships between Germany and South Korea. According to op-marburg.de, Feldpausch and the photographer Sigrid Zimmermann-Mielke were even recognized for their services awarded for cultural exchange.

There is also interest in an intensive cultural dialogue, which is promoted by Tae Cheol Noh, the director of the “Bongsan Cultural Center” in Gwangju. As part of the upcoming exhibition, Feldpausch's cycle “Still Visible Traces”, for which he received the Otto Ubbelohde Prize in 2004, will be presented on July 24th. In doing so, he brings with him a piece of history and memory that will certainly be of great interest to visitors.

Create a creative network

The roots of the cultural exchange between the artists from Stadtallendorf and South Korea go back to 2009 and have continued to develop since then. Since then, several exchange programs and exhibitions have been created. What is particularly noteworthy is that further visits to Gwangju took place in 2010, 2014 and 2019 and Korean artists also visited Stadtallendorf. These dynamic interplays not only enrich the art scene, but also promote interpersonal relationships across national borders. A return visit from Cheol Noh is already planned for November 8th and 9th, during which he would like to bring back Feldpausch's work.

In order to spread the exchange to a broader public, an art market will also be organized in Stadtallendorf this weekend, in which Feldpausch will be involved. Here many artists have the opportunity to present their works and talk to visitors. This event is about shared inspiration and promotion of local art, as practiced in the Stadtallendorf art and culture association.

A look at the artists

The upcoming exchange will not only include Feldpausch and Nau, but also a number of other talented artists presenting their work:

  • Susann Feldpausch: „Life is circulation“ – Thematisiert den Kreislauf des Lebens.
  • Sigrid Zimmermann-Mielke: „Stille Schönheit“ – Dokumentiert die Harmonie der Natur.
  • Viktor Lau: „Erleuchtung“ – Symbolisiert die Verbindung von Körper, Geist und Seele.
  • Börries Hahn: „Das Haus der Schriftstellerin“ – Einblick in das Leben eines alten Fachwerkhauses.
  • Michael Feldpausch: „Nie wieder“ – Thematisiert die Geschichte eines Munitionswerks im 2. Weltkrieg.

Until the exhibition opens, it will be exciting to see how the creative works of Feldpausch and his colleagues will be received in South Korea. The cultural exchange not only brings new insights, but also a good hand for the future of art relations between the two countries, and accelerates mutual understanding. It remains to be hoped that this collaboration will continue to flourish and continue after the exhibition.
