The atmosphere in Frankfurt today and tomorrow will be shaped by a special event: Kendrick Lamar and SZA are giving their eagerly awaited concerts in the sold-out Waldstadion. These events are part of the comprehensive Grand National Tour 2025, which will visit a total of 13 stadiums in Europe, including the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne, where another appearance took place on July 2nd. The two artists are among the most influential in their genres; Kendrick Lamar impresses with hits from his albums such as “good kid, m.A.A.d city” and “To Pimp a Butterfly”, while SZA shapes the R’n’B scene with her album “Ctrl” and the current work “SOS”.
The Waldstadion in Frankfurt will attract a total of 50,000 fans on both event evenings. Traffic problems and parked side streets are the order of the day, which is why the mood in the district is somewhat subdued. Many residents compare the situation with the challenges that come with Eintracht games, which have also been perceived as disruptive. The Grand National Tour is described as more than just a concert – it is a multimedia experience combining music, theater and visual art. Expectations for the setlists are high; Kendrick Lamar could perform classics from his repertoire, while SZA will perform “SOS” and other hits from “Ctrl”. In addition, there could be surprise guests from the Top Dawg cosmos or the international music scene who will further delight the audience.
